1. Please tell us something about your blog.  How important is this for you? What makes your blog different from others?

Ready To Be Rich is a blog about money, business and personal finance. Personally, it’s a chronicle of my journey towards financial freedom. It contains the lessons I have learned about saving and investing money, starting and managing a business and personal productivity.

My blog is very important to me because it’s a way for me to “pay it forward” and help others who are struggling financially in their lives. I’ve always believe that when you give, you will receive.

The Philippine blogosphere lacks business and personal finance bloggers. We are only a handful and I think that I’m the only one who is socially active in the blogging community. I believe this is what makes my blog (and me as a blogger) different from the others.

2.  Does your blog offer something novel or unexpected?

All the topics that I write about are also being covered in other personal finance blogs and even business textbooks and magazines, so the short answer is No. However, the short anecdotes and glimpses of my life and the lessons I have learned which I occasionally share to my readers can be considered novel.

3. Can you share some observations about the common mistakes bloggers make with their blog?

One mistake I commonly see in other bloggers is that they blog because they just want to make money online. Although there is nothing wrong with wanting this, I believe that one should primarily blog because he or she genuinely wants to write and share something to the world.

4. What do you think are the elements of a good blog?

First, personality - a blogger should have a unique voice that will attract and keep readers.

Second is quality content, which means articles that are informative, entertaining, comprehensive and/or exclusive.

Third is marketing. A blog’s content is useless if it’s not being read. A blogger should know how to create an online presence for his or her blog. More than just search engine and social media optimization, a blog should also participate and engage in online activities in the blogosphere such as writing projects, blog carnivals and memes.

5. How often do you blog?

Only when I have time, which is usually twice or thrice a week.

6. How helpful is your blog content?

I would like to believe that my articles are helpful. The regular emails I get from readers who are thankful for the things they learned from my blog is my basis for this. Personally, writing my content also helps me in a way because it reinforces the lessons within me which consequently inspires and motivates me to faithfully practice what I write about.

7. Why should readers trust you?

I think that I was able to gain the trust of my readers because I often write about personal experiences and offer myself as a practical example. What I share in my blog is the real me.

8. How have you changed since you began blogging?

Yes, I used to be always bored at home and often while away time in malls. Now, I’m at home more often. Moreover, blogging really opened up a lot of new opportunities for me to earn extra income, which allowed me to lessen the time-consuming freelance projects I normally take.

9. What is your Favorite Foreign / Local blog?

I read blogs for many different reasons so it’s really hard to pick a favorite. But in terms of getting information on how to improve my blogging skills, Dosh Dosh is my top pick for foreign blogs while Dexter’s Tech At Hand is my favorite Pinoy blog.

10. Who influenced you to blog?

Nobody really influenced me to blog. For years now, I’ve actually been planning to write a book about business and personal finance. Unfortunately, I never had the time to organize and plan my articles. Then I thought, why not just start a blog? It’s cheaper and easier than publishing a book - and that’s how I started.

Although you can be a consultant in just about any field these days, the current top 20 consulting businesses include:
